Selena Marie Gomez was born on July 22, 1992 in NYC, New York. Selena is an only child and was raised in Grand Prairie, where she moved to when she was very young. Selena received her first role as "Gianna" in 2001 on the kids show
Barney and Friends. During her two years on the show, she became very close to one of her fellow actresses, Demi Lovato. In 2003, Selena was given a small part in the movie
Spy Kids 3-D: Game Over. She guest starred in 2 hit Disney Channel TV Shows,
Hannah Montana[as Mikayla] and
The Suite Life of Zack and Cody [as Gwen]. After auditioning for the part 3 times, she was casted in another hit Disney Channel TV Series
Wizards of Waverly Place as Alex Russo. Since then, she has received many other parts on and off of Disney Channel. She guest starred as herself on
Sonny with a Chance. She recently finished filming a movie called
Princess Protection Program [as Carter Mason] with her best friend Demi Lovato which aired in June 2009. Demi and Selena are most popular online by their webshows they post on Youtube. Selena signed a record deal with Hollywood Records just before her 16th birthday and is recording an album due out Summer of 2009.
